Where did the name MAC come from?

The name MAC stemmed from something so deep for me. Paying homage to the 3 most amazing women in my family. Melissa, Alessia & Catia. Melissa is my wife and business partner. She is the key stone on everything strategic and operational in MAC Design Group. Drawing on years of experience in executive management, she truly is our compass and shining light. Alessia our youngest daughter exudes pure honesty and fun. At the ripe old age of 6 she shows us the importance of having the honest conversation, seeing things for what they are and finding the purity in everything. Catia, our big girl, our creative child! She teaches us the importance of confidence and reminds us to have fun in what we do, and to keep trying until we find something great in it. These 3 Ladies are the reason ‘Why’ and continue to be so influential to us…They are MAC!

Alex Lozanovski

In 1986, the Managing Director of MAC Design Group, Alex Lozanovski was quite literally born into the window furnishing industry, with his mother going into labour in the showroom of the family-owned window furnishings business. It was here that Alex’s passion and dedication for business and window furnishings flourished.

Fast forward 30 years, Alex alongside his wife Melissa, took the leap a leap of faith and MAC was born, with the focus on manufacturing quality, custom made window furnishings. More than just the development of quality products, Alex and Melissa had a core focus on developing a working environment where staff felt valued and appreciated. A place where staff voice and agency are paramount and a place where the expertise would lie with the many incredible staff that MAC employed. The business set sail in November 2019, prior to the world pandemic of Covid-19, and has continue continued to grow ever since.

With over 40 team members in the MAC Design Group family, the success of MAC Window Fashions, MAC’s curtain manufacturing powerhouse has allowed MAC to launch its second division, MAC Shade Solutions, offering custom curtain tracking and hardware. Current industry demands have allowed both MAC divisions to collaborate in the MAC MADE program, which is servicing customers nationally by providing an Australian Made complete curtain solution.

With family being at the core of everything Alex, Melissa and MAC stand for, staff, suppliers and retail partners too become a true part of the MAC family. The success of MAC is attributed to the nurturing way in which the company works to support all stakeholders and is an element of the business that they are very proud of and a testament to the success of the company.
